New Membership Application

SLAIHEE has four membership categories: (New Member Application Form, 2024 – click to fill)

1. Ordinary Member (referred to as Member),
2. Member accredited with having Continuing Professional Development (referred to as CPD Member),
3. Associate (referred to as Associate Member),
4. Associate Member accredited with having Continuing Professional Development (referred to as CPD Associate Member)

Details of memberships:

1. (Ordinary) Membership is open to academic-grade staff members of higher education institutions who are committed to the attainment of SLAIHEE’s Vision, Mission, Aims and Values
2. CPD Membership is open to academic-grade staff members of higher education institutions who are committed to the attainment of SLAIHEE’s Vision, Mission, Aims and Values,
   AND who are actively and currently involved in the practice and dissemination of educational development activities in higher education AS EVIDENCED BY; A). having obtained a teaching or teaching/learning support post-graduate level qualification during the preceding three years, and which has been awarded by a university, SLAIHEE or a university-related organization, and recognized by SLAIHEE. B). Persons having such qualification/s ‘older’ than the above three year period will require to show evidence that they – (B1) have undergone professional development such as having engaged in, or attended, one or more staff development/activities (presented an abstract/ published a research paper relevant to higher education) during the preceding two years the SLAIHEE membership application is made, OR  (B2). are currently engaged in the teaching/ delivery of qualifications identified in the preceding paragraph, and with such engagement amounting to at least the delivery of a third or of a staff development course, and which is accredited by SLAIHEE / SLAIHEE ongoing activities in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).

3. Associate Membership is open to school teachers, who are committed to the attainment of SLAIHEE’s Vision, Mission, Aims and Values,

4. CPD Associate Membership is open to school teachers who are committed to the attainment of SLAIHEE’s Vision, Mission, Aims and Values,

AND who are actively and currently involved in the practice and dissemination of educational development activities in school education AS EVIDENCED BY;

A). Having successfully completed an accredited Teacher Development course during the preceding three years, and which has been awarded by a university, SLAIHEE, National Institute of Education, a Teachers Training College or a relevant organization and recognized by SLAIHEE

B). Persons having such qualification/s ‘older’ than the above three year period will require to show evidence that they – (B1) have undergone professional development such as having engaged in (followed/ conducted/ coordinated) one or more teaching development/ activities during the preceding two years the SLAIHEE membership application is made, OR (B2). are currently engaged in the teaching/ delivery of qualifications identified in the preceding paragraph, and with such engagement amounting to at least a third of a teacher development course, and which is recognized by SLAIHEE/ contributing to SLAIHEE ongoing activities in SoTL.

Membership fee can be paid to the account number 003460001462 at the Sampath Bank, Thimbirigasyaya Branch. (A/C Name : SRI LANKA ASSOCIATION FOR IMPROVING HIGHER EDUCATION EFFECTIVENESS)

(Payments can be made at any branch of Sampath Bank, or via any online fund transfer). PLEASE MENTION YOUR NAME IN THE DEPOSIT SLIP/ONLINE TRANSFER as a Remark.
